Oct. 18 • 5:20 p.m. Harbor Police reportedly observed a person using a power sander on a vessel, allowing debris to fall in the water near the 1400 block of Shelter Island Drive. The case is pending review for prosecution.
Oct. 22 • 9:20 p.m. Harbor Police recovered a ski boat that had been reported stolen, near the 2000 block of Harbor Island Drive. The vessel was returned to its owner, Harbor Police said.
Oct. 23 • 9:15 a.m. Harbor Police responded to an electrical fire on a vessel near the entrance of Shelter Island Yacht Basin. The vessel was towed to a repair yard by a commercial assistance firm.
Oct. 23 • 5:54 p.m. Harbor Police towed a disabled vessel under the Coronado Bridge to the launch ramp.
Oct. 24 • 3:50 a.m. Harbor Police received a report of a vessel that had sunk in its slip, near the 1300 block of Harbor Island Drive. A commercial assistance firm towed the vessel to a repair yard.
Oct. 25 • 5:45 p.m. Harbor Police received a report of a vessel colliding with an inflatable dinghy that was fastened to the stern of another vessel, while maneuvering at a dock near the 1400 block of Shelter Island Drive. Moderate damage to the inflatable boat was reported.
Oct. 25 • 11:59 p.m. Harbor Police officers arrested a person reportedly attempting to steal a vessel from a marina in the 900 block of Harbor Island Drive.
Oct. 27 • 8:30 a.m. Harbor Police stored a dinghy with an outboard engine after it was reportedly found leaking oil into the water near the 1400 block of Shelter Island Drive.
Oct. 27 • 1:20 p.m. A vessel burglary was reported near the 3200 block of Highway 75 in Coronado. Items taken were valued at more than $3,000, according to Harbor Police.
Oct. 29 • 1:47 p.m. Harbor Police received a report of an electrical fire on a vessel near the 1800 block of Harbor Island Drive. Damage to the vessel was minimal.
Nov. 4 • 7:30 a.m. Harbor Police officers issued citations to two people for illegally tying up a vessel overnight at the police guest dock.
Nov. 4 • 6:40 p.m. A dinghy that was reported stolen was recovered near the 4900 block of Harbor Island Drive.
Nov. 5 • 1:10 a.m. Harbor Police assisted a Navy vessel back to port after an onboard engine fire near Buoy 7.
Mission Bay
Oct. 22 • 5:10 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of fuel in the bilge of a vessel at SeaWorld Marina. The owner was notified and was advised to clean up the bilge properly.
Oct. 25 • 8:05 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a sinking vessel at the Bahia Hotel Marina. Officers pumped out the vessel and the leak was fixed.
Oct. 25 • 8:16 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a sinking vessel. Officers dewatered the vessel and the leak was located and fixed.
ORANGE COUNTY
Dana Point Harbor
Oct. 24 • 1:39 p.m. A dinghy was reported stolen near East Basin Cove.
Oct. 25 • 11:42 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a call of a disabled boat with two people on board off Dana Point. Officers attempted to tow the vessel, but the skipper managed to start his engine. Officers observed the vessel until it reached the launch ramp.
Oct. 25 • 3:55 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a call reporting a personal watercraft operator in distress at Doheny Beach. Officers towed the vessel to the launch ramp.
Oct. 28 • 11:03 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a call of a vessel taking on water near Dana Point Yacht Club. Officers dewatered the vessel and found the leak. It was temporarily plugged and Vessel Assist was called.
Oct. 30 • 8:59 p.m. A fuel spill was reported off East Basin Cove and D Dock.
Nov. 1 • 5 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a disabled boat off the west side of the bait barge to the launch ramp.
Newport Harbor
Oct. 22 • 7:48 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a disabled boat found adrift at an anchorage, to Linda Isle.
Oct. 25 • 9:24 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a call of a boat in distress off Huntington Beach, close to the surf line. It had run out of fuel. Officers towed the vessel to Newport Dunes.
Oct. 26 • 11 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a disabled boat near Harbor Island to Newport Dunes.
Oct. 27 • 1:27 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a boat lost in the fog. Officers escorted the vessel into the harbor.
Oct. 28 • 2:03 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a call of a boat in distress 100 yards inside the harbor entrance. The skipper requested to be towed to the boat’s slip, but officers checked the registration numbers of the vessel and found it had been reported stolen at Oceanside Harbor. They confirmed the report with the Oceanside Police Department. Officers arrested the skipper and impounded the vessel.
Oct. 30 • 10:57 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a disabled boat off Pirates Cove to the bait barge.
Oct. 31 • 10:26 a.m. An unattended vessel was found near North Bay Front and Ruby Beach.
Oct. 31 • 11:51 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a disabled vessel near Carnation Cove to N Street.
Nov. 1 • 2:32 p.m. Harbor Patrol impounded a boat that had overstayed its time at a guest mooring.
Nov. 3 • 6 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted in shooing sea lions off a vessel. The pinnipeds had reportedly boarded the boat and knocked loose a dinghy.
Sunset/Huntington Harbour
Oct. 25 • 1:51 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a sinking vessel near the Naval Weapons Station. Officers dewatered the vessel and towed it to the launch ramp.
Oct. 25 • 11:14 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted a disabled vessel near the harbor entrance to the launch ramp.
Oct. 30 • 3:45 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a vessel taking on water near Seagate condominiums. Officers pumped out the boat and advised the owner of the situation.
Nov. 2 • 4:21 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a boat going on the rocks near the east jetty. Officers towed the vessel to the launch ramp.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY
Long Beach Harbor
Oct. 20 • 8 a.m. Baywatch Cabrillo assisted with a dive team in search of a person reported missing from a vessel at Queens Gate.
Los Angeles Harbor
Oct. 25 • 1:54 p.m. Baywatch Cabrillo responded to a report of a boat in distress off Abalone Cove. Officers undid the line that was wrapped around the boat’s starboard propeller.
Oct. 28 • 4:05 p.m. Baywatch Cabrillo responded to a report of a boat aground with two people on board, 25 yards off Point Fermin. Officers towed the vessel and released it at the launch ramp.
Nov. 2 • 2:32 p.m. Baywatch Cabrillo responded to a report of a vessel with two people on board that had lost its rudder. No injuries were reported and the vessel was towed back to Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club.
Redondo Beach/King Harbor
Oct. 18 • 11:42 p.m. Baywatch del Rey responded to a vessel in distress at Flat Rock. Officers and the Redondo Beach Harbor Patrol assisted in towing the vessel to its slip.
Oct. 19 • 7 p.m. Baywatch Redondo assisted Redondo Beach Harbor Patrol in towing a disabled vessel to the King Harbor entrance.
Oct. 21 • 1:37 p.m. Baywatch Redondo and Redondo Beach Harbor Patrol found a vessel aground outside the Redondo Beach breakwall. Officers towed the severely damaged vessel for an emergency haulout. The skipper was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
Marina del Rey
Oct. 18 • 5:57 p.m. Baywatch del Rey responded to a call of a boat in distress off Santa Monica Pier. Officers towed the vessel to its slip at Marina del Rey.
Oct. 19 • 5:15 p.m. Baywatch Santa Monica responded to a report of a vessel in distress with 22 people on board. About 20 gallons of gasoline were reportedly spilled in the bilge. Baywatch del Rey lifeguards and Coast Guard personnel assisted in transporting the vessel to Marina del Rey.
Oct. 19 • 5:35 p.m. Baywatch Santa Monica responded to a report of a vessel going on the rocks at the north end near the breakwater. Officers towed the vessel to the launch ramp.
Oct. 23 • 1:49 p.m. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol Marina del Rey officers recovered a stolen vessel from Santa Barbara Harbor. No suspects are in custody and the case is under investigation.
Oct. 24 • 8:15 p.m. Baywatch del Rey responded to a call of a distressed vessel 1 mile off Marina del Rey, with engine failure. Officers towed the boat to Marina del Rey.
Oct. 24 • 8:38 p.m. Marine Patrol officers responded to a call of a vessel with engine failure with two people on board at the north harbor entrance, in danger of going aground. Officers towed the vessel to its slip.
Oct. 26 • 1:23 p.m. Marine Patrol officers responded to a report of a vessel with engine failure with three people on board in the main channel. Officers towed the vessel to the launch ramp.
Oct. 26 • 3:20 p.m. Baywatch del Rey and Redondo responded to a report of a vessel in distress with nine people on board. Officers towed the boat to the launch ramp.
Oct. 27 • 12:02 p.m. Baywatch del Rey and Redondo received a report of a vessel taking on water with six people on board, 6 miles off King Harbor. Officers dewatered the vessel and towed it to Marina del Rey.
Oct. 30 • 5:18 p.m. Baywatch Malibu responded to a report of a vessel against the rocks with eight people on board, inside the main channel at Marina del Rey. The vessel was towed to the dock. No injuries were reported.
Oct. 30 • 5:30 p.m. Marine Patrol officers responded to a call of a vessel with engine trouble in the main channel. Officers towed the vessel to the launch ramp.
Nov. 1 • 3:20 a.m. Marine Patrol officers observed a vessel with engine failure at the entrance channel. After the skipper made repairs to his boat, officers escorted the boat to the launch ramp.
CATALINA ISLAND
Two Harbors
Oct. 20 • 1:22 p.m. Baywatch Isthmus responded to a plane crash at Airport-in-the-Sky. Lifeguards assisted in searching for victims and patrolled the area for brush fires.
Avalon
Oct. 13 • 9 a.m. Baywatch Avalon patrolled the harbor during strong northeasterly winds to ensure all moored vessels were secure.
Oct. 20 • 1:22 p.m. Baywatch Avalon treated and coordinated transport for the sole survivor of a plane crash at Airport-in-the-Sky to a trauma center. There were three fatalities. A fire caused by the crash was successfully extinguished.
Oct. 28 • 4:39 p.m. Baywatch Avalon responded to a report of a vessel taking on water, 3 miles north of Avalon Harbor, with two people on board. The leak was fixed and officers released the vessel to its skipper.
VENTURA COUNTY
Ventura Harbor
Oct. 21 • 5:07 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers reportedly observed a speeding vessel in the entrance. The boat was experiencing mechanical problems and could not run at no-wake speed. Officers towed the vessel to the launch ramp.
Oct. 22 • 6:34 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a disabled vessel. Officers towed the vessel to the launch ramp.
Oct. 25 • 2:47 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers removed a 12-foot piling from the harbor entrance.
Oct. 26 • 12:35 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a fire 150 feet south of Surfer’s Knoll. Officers assisted firefighters in transporting hoses.
Oct. 27 • 10:20 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers issued a written warning to a hoop-netter for fishing 75 feet off the breakwater.
Channel Islands
Nov. 1 • 4:30 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers reportedly observed a charter boat low in the water at its dock. The vessel was dewatered and monitored until the owner arrived.
